This is a FAQ for the Dragon Warrior 4 start with item code. This FAQ explains the procedure for working with start with item codes better than the FAQ I wrote for this so I am including it in the NonMember file collection.

All 128 items possible in the game, including, what appears to be, a dummied out item and the "empty slot."
Codes to replace all (with exceptions, which Iıll explain) the item slots for each character

Code rules:
1. These are your standard "start with item" codes, find the character(s) and item(s) you want him/her to have, and fill in the *ıs accordingly
2. The code(s) MUST be implemented at the beginning of each character(s) chapter
3. The code(s) donıt have to be constantly appliedŠ Use the GG 1 time, get the items, youıre done.
4. But it wonıt hurt the game either if you choose to leave the code(s) in

Explanation of the code system:
These codes replace each characters item slots, that were normally blank at the beginning of each chapter, with the item of your choice. So if a character normally starts with an item in his/her first, second, third, etc. slot (and they all have at least one) it cannot be replaced (believe me, Iıve tried.) These are designated on the character lists as "(Default.)" Also, as designated by the gameıs engine, if someone were to replace a characters eighth slot ONLY, the item would be bumped up to the most logical empty slot, keeping your item list free of spaces between items. This, however, will not conflict with codes out of order.

NOTES:
1. If youıve looked ahead at the code list already, you might be thinking "how on earth was he able to test 4, 5, 6, or even 7 different slot codes at once?" Simple, these codes work both on the Game Genie and the Nintendo Emulator NESticle (Iıve tested them all on both.) NESticleıs built-in Game Genie is identical to Galoobıs, with one minor exception, you can place as many codes in as you like! I was able to test as many codes as I wanted with NESticle, and I did the same tests (with the exception that you can only enter 3,) on the original NES as well to make sure all the codes worked.
2. There are two items in the game (Iron Safe and I canıt remember the other one) that donıt always appear in certain chapters, for certain characters, or with a certain combination of items. I never tested every chapter, character, item combinations, or the mixture of all three, but the result was always the same: the item would simply be an empty slot (so donıt freak out if this happens)
